Lee, Doug Aldrich [yes, the whole 80s LA guitar scene was a big deal for me!]), Criss Oliva, Michael Romeo, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Allan Holdsworth, Charlie Christian, Joe Pass … to name just a few Vocals: Ronnie James Dio, Don Dokken, Bruce Dickinson, Jorn Lande, Russell Allen, Bjorn Jansson, Rob Halford Bass: Jimmy Bain, Steve Harris, Geezer Butler, Jeff Pilson, Peter Baltes, Naoto Shibata (Anthem) Drums: George Borden, Vinny Appice, Mick Brown, Stefan Schwarzmann (Accept), Nigel Glockler (Saxon) Favorite bands: Dokken, Ratt, UFO, Symphony X, Judas Priest, Dio, Saxon, Accept ... really, there are just too many great national and local bands to mention them all – but rest assured that they are all VERY METAL! Previous bands: Nothing of note, aside from my first original band "Stone Blue" around the tail end of metal's heyday in the U.S. Wait! I did do a few gigs with Dofka in the 90s. Personal bio: The details of my life are inconsequential … What got you interested in heavy metal? I recall KISS (sound familiar?), Black Sabbath and Eric Clapton getting me excited about music and the guitar – along with a lot more of the classic 70s rock (Ted Nugent, UFO, Deep Purple, etc.) that I heard on local radio stations. Subsequently, I was very influenced by the NWOBHM and U.S. metal and hard rock bands from the early 80s. Rumor also has it that as a child I had a toy microphone and was a big Tom Jones fan; but that doesn’t have any bearing on my status as a singer’s nightmare – right Gord? What keeps you involved in music, and what would you like to achieve with AFTERSHOK? Being a musician and a metalhead are lifelong pursuits for many; I consider myself both, so I’m in it for the duration. I can't stop rocking! Statements: “Support both national and local metal artists by purchasing their music and attending shows. Let’s keep the metal alive!” and "I like pizza." Hobbies outside of music: Reading, hiking, running Favorite movies/TV shows: Action, comedy, fantasy and science fiction; I love comic books, superheroes and Tolkien and I am not ashamed! Favorite books: Once again, fantasy and science fiction, but I’ll read just about anything that grabs my attention. |
